Robotic Surgery (Da Vinci)

What is the Da Vinci machine?

Surgery using the da Vinci™ robotic system is the most advanced, least invasive surgical method available to women today. The da Vinci™ Surgical System enables our surgeons to perform advanced, simple and radical surgeries with unmatched precision and control – using only a few small incisions.

The robot does not move without our skilled surgeons directing its motions. Using special dyes and robotic fluorescent technology, we can move confidently and successfully isolating even the smallest cancer cells during sentinel lymph-node mapping procedures

What are the benefits of Robotic Surgery?

Robotic surgery has allowed surgeons to operate on patients using much smaller incisions that once needed large wounds and prolonged recoveries. Surgeons can now perform minimally invasive procedures with precision, flexibility and control that would otherwise have been impossible with previous conventional surgical techniques.

The advantages of robotic surgery include the following:

  • Ambulatory surgery even for very extensive procedures.

  • Proven results with similar cancer outcomes and much easier recovery.

  • Less complications compared to open surgery (laparotomy).

  • Ability to start adjuvant cancer treatments sooner.

  • Expertise of our practice with more than 6000 cases of minimally invasive surgery for cancer treatment conjointly by our providers.

  • Better cosmetic results and much less pain.

  • Sooner return to work and other daily activities.

Cancers that can safely be addressed by robotic surgery include: endometrial (uterine), ovarian, fallopian tube.

Besides treating the above-mentioned cancers, we have frequently treat patients referred to us for complex benign conditions such as pelvic endometriosis, pelvic masses and patients who need a preventive surgery when they carry a gene that predisposes to gynecologic cancers.

Our practice has pioneered the use of a much less destructive and painful surgical technique to treat dysplasias (precancers) of the lower genital tract which includes the cervix, vagina, vulva and anus. Over more than 13 years of experience with this sophisticated tool that uses ultrasound cavitational energy to resect abnormal areas of precancer, we have treated more than 400 patients with excellent outcomes including minimal postoperative pain and much better-preserved normal anatomy of the affected area after healing.

If you are diagnosed with dysplasia, we will be happy to review your case to see if this innovative technology would be suitable for your treatment.
