What to do BEFORE your surgery? 

  1. Please carefully follow the preoperative instructions included in your surgical packet. If you have any questions at any point, do not hesitate to contact our Surgical Coordinator at 505-559-4495 ext. 321.

  2. Pre-Anesthesia Call:

    No later than one day before your surgery, you will receive a call from the hospital’s Pre-Anesthesia Department to complete a phone interview. During this call, they will:

    • Review your medical and surgical history

    • Review medications and supplements you currently take

    • Advise which medications to take on the day of surgery

  3. Required Preoperative Testing

    Please complete all required testing as early as possible to avoid delays.

    Testing Requirements

    All patients age 50 and older:

    • EKG

    • Chest X-ray

    All patients (all ages):

    • CBC

    • CMP

    Labs can be completed at TriCore (preferred), even if a pre-anesthesia appointment is not scheduled.

What to Bring ON THE DAY of your surgery?

✔ Photo ID
✔ Insurance card
✔ Necessary medications
✔ CPAP machine, portable oxygen, or inhaler (if applicable)
✔ A responsible adult to drive you home
